| 7 Last Words This work is a collaborative project with the Basel Quartet. The idea came from musicians trying to find music and art around the work of Haydn, named 7 Last Words of Christ. Originaly It was composed for a chamber orchestra, but in this case is interpreted by a quartet. I responded with my proposal to recreate an entire virtual orchestra with portraits of natural size. Thirty portraits on supports were installed on stage around 4 musicians to match their faces and recreate the exact layout of the "missing" orchestra. I have chosen to represent ordinary people: an orchestra of students, teachers, mechanics, tilers and other people who have nothing to do with classical music and have no chance to get on stage. The concert-instalation was produced in concert halls and churches of Basel, Zurich and Sion. |
